Your dental care coverage includes many types of services and gives you the opportunity to choose from 4 statuses and 4 options. Depending on the option chosen, you can benefit from dental cleaning, restorative treatments, braces and more.
Choose your status based on who you wish to cover for dental care:
To meet your specific needs, the dental care component is flexible, meaning that you have 4 options to choose from.
Even if you opt out, you can allocate flex dollars to the Health spending account (HSA). You can use this account to reimburse dental care expenses that are not covered (or partially covered) by the plan. The HSA can also reimburse expenses for eligible dependents not covered by the plan.
Note that reimbursements are limited to reasonable and customary fees, as per the dental fee guide in your province of residence.
You do not have to choose the same status for dental care as for medical and vision care.
Did you know that you can submit a pre-determination form for prior approval if you plan to undergo a procedure that exceeds $300? This way, you will find out right away what will be reimbursed by the plan, and you won’t be surprised later. Dentists are familiar with this procedure.
